Create grid-based art with new $25 painting tool Hexels

Marmoset – whose photorealistic WebGL-based Marmoset Viewer we recently integrated into ArtStation – has released Hexels, a fun new $25 tool for creating grid-based art.

In addition to actual hexels (‘sci-fi honeycombs’), Hexels lets you paint with trixels for isometric shapes, Voronoi shapes for a stained glass effect, or create good old-fashioned pixel art.

As well as creating new paintings, the software can stylise existing images you import; and you can apply textures or glows to the hexels for a more subtle, customisable look.

Once completed, you can export the image in SVG format, or as an XML or CSV file to use online.
