Moonshot Games Wildgate Art Blast

In July of 2025, our team launched the first-person shooter game, Wildgate. It’s the first title from Moonshot Games, published by Dreamhaven, and is set in a brand new universe and IP.

It’s a game of epic battles between rival spaceship crews.  The ships themselves are humble – junk haulers outfitted for marauding pirates.   It takes place at the far edge of the galaxy, near an entrance point of a mysterious sector called the Typhon Reach. You’re as likely to find a 10,000 year old battleship, perfectly preserved, as you are a rival crew trying to salvage some loot. It’s a Bermuda Triangle in space. It is full of untold dangers – especially from other crews.

The sorts of characters who go there are the same kind of rugged outsiders that would have gone to the goldfields of the Yukon or California in centuries past on Earth. It’s hard to make it out there. Death is likely.  Mayhem is all but certain. These are people who can’t – or don’t want – to make a living in the safe, respectable confines of the Core Worlds.  That’s why we call them Prospectors. It’s folks trying to make their reputation, and their fortune. They’ll cause a ruckus in the offing though. You can be sure of that.

And while salvage is lucrative enough, what the Prospectors are really after are the Artifacts: objects that hold the ancient wisdom of civilizations-past.  Objects of such supreme, profound technology that they could raze cities, terraform planets or uncover the secrets of the universe.

Creating this area of space, and the people and technologies that inhabit it, was a big job for a small team like ours.  In addition to being an unconventional play experience, (You can approach any location from 360 degrees, and players still need to be able to find the front door.) We went for an aesthetic that is anti-heroic, colorful, but still epic and appealing.  Unpretentious and makeshift, but still giving the fantasy of a space adventure. It was quite a job. Making this game was our space adventure, and we hope you enjoy the results.
