Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed Shadows Art Blast

For the first time in the series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in one of the settings our players have been waiting for the longest: Feudal Japan!

You’ll play during the Unification of Japan, in the late 16th century, but more precisely, in the Azuchi Momoyama Era. The late Sengoku period is a fascinating time to explore and an occasion to meet legendary historical figures, such as Oda Nobunaga, Akechi Mitsuhide, Sen no Rikyū, and Hattori Hanzō to name a few. It’s also an opportunity to discover awe-inspiring locations.

For many of us involved in the making of an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan, being a part of it was a dream come true. The development of the game was an incredible adventure, filled with challenges and opportunities. It gave us a fantastic setting and the occasion to bring to life two fascinating gameplay fantasies: Naoe, the quick-witted, agile, stealth-focused shinobi, embodying the Assassin roots, and Yasuke, the charismatic, powerful, combat-oriented samurai, reflecting the franchise’s evolution towards more intricate melee combat with the more recent entries.

We really pushed ourselves to deliver the best experience possible. Achieving this required a massive, collective effort from so many talented people, each of whom made a huge impact on the final product.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you will explore a dynamic and ever-changing open world, affected by dynamic seasons and weather systems. As players progress from one location to another, the goal was to highlight diverse thematizations and distinct moods: Venture from secluded countryside vistas to peaceful shrines, to bustling merchant districts and dense and mysterious forests, to the heights of iconic castle towns. Taken as a whole, Feudal Japan offers a vast variety of environments and landmarks to explore and experience.

This art blast highlights the passionate work of dozens of Ubisoft teams from around the globe, each of whom made the creation of the game’s world and characters possible. Assassin’s Creed Shadows would not have come to fruition, without their amazing skills, talent and passion. We are very proud of what they have achieved.
