Hazelight Studios Split Fiction Art Blast

It’s a pleasure to finally share a piece of our creative journey with the ArtStation community following the release of Split Fiction. We’ve been humbled and excited to see how people around the world have connected with the game, especially its visual storytelling, artistic direction, and technical execution. We’re now excited to take you behind the scenes and share a closer look at the creative work that brought it to life.
From the very beginning, Split Fiction challenged us to build a brand-new IP that blends elements of both science fiction and fantasy. Creating a fresh universe from the ground up was a leap into the unknown, one that demanded deep exploration, experimentation, and a clear visual identity. Through extensive research and early concept work, we set out to merge familiar genre touchpoints with our own unique spin, shaping several worlds that feel both imaginative and cohesive. We’re proud of where that journey led us, and we hope the art speaks to you as much as it did to us during development.
But building new worlds was only part of the challenge. The real test was bringing them to life through two simultaneous perspectives. At Hazelight, split-screen isn’t just a feature; it’s part of who we are. Delivering a game with this much variety, while rendering two fully realized experiences in real time, pushed us to our creative and technical limits. To make it possible, we brought together an incredible range of talent, from artists and animators to designers and programmers, and it’s thanks to this collaboration that the vision became reality.
Craftsmanship sits at the heart of everything we do at Hazelight. We don’t just make art, we build it with intention, care, and pride. Every character, every environment, every asset was created with meaning, and we hope that sense of purpose and passion shines through in every detail.
Of course, what you’re seeing here is only a glimpse. So much work, energy, and heart went into this project. Looking back, it’s truly humbling to see how much the team accomplished in such a short time. We’re honored to finally share this art with you, and we hope it sparks even a little inspiration, just as the process of making it inspired us.
