Ubisoft The Division 2: Battle for Brooklyn Art Blast

Division 2: The Battle for Brooklyn

A little over two months ago, we released The Battle for Brooklyn – the first Division 2 DLC in five years since the last expansion.

We explored many ideas for the setting of the DLC, but when Brooklyn was suggested, it just clicked. And here we are, almost 10 years later after the start of the franchise, returning to where it all began.

The Battle for Brooklyn takes place a few months after the events of the Warlords of New York expansion. It offers a nostalgic journey through streets familiar to all Division players. For the first time in the franchise, the story unfolds in autumn, bringing new season to the game’s world. Until now, players had only experienced the chill of a New York winter or the scorching summer sun of Washington, D.C., so it felt only natural to do something special by dressing iconic New York neighborhoods in the rich, vibrant colors of fall.

Autumn wasn’t just a stylistic choice, it was important narratively too. It symbolizes the passage of time, the evolution of characters and story, and introduces a new atmosphere to the franchise.

Autumn in Brooklyn isn’t just about colorful, tree-lined streets. We aimed to capture a wide range of seasonal moods from crisp, clear skies to moody, rain-soaked moments.

And just like that, the atmosphere we crafted tells a story of contrasts: peaceful communities striving to rebuild, set against the ever-present dangers of the world. It’s about people coming together not just to survive, but to thrive in the aftermath of the flood, all while facing harsh realities and hostile factions.

What we’re showcasing today is a testament to the incredible skill and dedication of our talented team of artists – concept, environment, technical, lighting, and level designers. I’m honored to have worked alongside such an amazing group of individuals. The Battle for Brooklyn, so beloved by fans, wouldn’t have been possible without their passion and hard work.
