HTTPS Always – ArtStation Pro websites preparing for E-Commerce functionality

We’re preparing ArtStation Pro websites for e-commerce. Soon,  Pro members will be able to sell digital and print-on-demand goods via their ArtStation-powered websites. To make traffic to user websites secure, all traffic will now be over HTTPS and we will no longer serve traffic over the insecure HTTP protocol. All requests to your website over HTTP will automatically be redirected to the secure HTTPS version.

SSL included for all ArtStation Pro-powered websites

On July 23, Google with start flagging any website on Chrome without an SSL as “Not Secure” and the browser will warn users with a notification in the address bar. Whether you are using a domain name registered via ArtStation Pro or bringing your own domain name from a 3rd party domain registrar, ArtStation will provision SSL certificates for free.  The “Secure” icon on the browser will let your visitors and customers know that your website is a safe place to buy.

 Usually, users are required to purchase an SSL certificate in addition to their domain name, which can cost anywhere from $90 per year upwards and is complex to set up. On ArtStation, it’s super easy. Once you’ve added your domain name to ArtStation Pro, it will automatically verify the domain name and add SSL support. You don’t have to do anything else. It’s free and included in your ArtStation Pro subscription.
