The Rookies has just announced the call for entries to this years edition of their global competition and mentor programme for young creatives in film, animation, games, virtual reality, motion graphics and 3D visualisation. The final submission deadline is May 15th, 2018.
Having travelled the globe for dream visual effects jobs in the film and television industry, the joint showreel from good friends, Andrew McDonald and Alwyn Hunt reads like a movie must-see list – think Oscar-winning Happy Feet, The Hobbit, Logan, Narnia and Harry Potter, to name just a few.
During their time working in film and television around the world, they noticed that despite a booming industry over the last 10 years and the high demand for visual effects artists, it’s really difficult to find skilled graduates. One of the main reasons for the lack of skilled students was because the curriculums schools teach don’t keep up to date with the changing technology studios use. Frustrated with seeing students knocked back, Andrew and Alwyn decided to do something about it. Open to young creatives in film, animation, games, VR, motion graphics and architecture visualization, they started a global platform and annual awards, The Rookies, and have the attention of the best studios around the world.

Launch young creatives into careers.
