ZBrush Summit 2015 starts Friday morning

The 2nd annual Pixologic ZBrush Summit kicks off tomorrow (Friday 25th September 11am PDT) at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation. For artists who can’t get to LA, a free Livestream of Summit presentations and the ZBrush Sculpt-Off will be available live.

The event has a star-studded lineup of artists including Sideshow Collectibles, Willem van der Schyf, The Mill, Ian Joyner, MPC, Disney Interactive, Furio Tedeschi, Jerad Marantz, Keos Masons, Scott Eaton, Jason Martin, Joe Peterson and David Giraud.

New surprise guests have also been added to the ZBrush Summit presenter lineup including:

  • Acclaimed makeup effects artist and seven time Oscar winner Rick Baker, and
  • Judges from SyFy Channel’s famous Face-Off reality show, Neville Page and Glenn Hetrick, who bring 75 years of combined experience in the TV and motion picture industries to the ZBrush Summit.


The Live Sculpt-Off will start at 11am PDT on Friday 25th September which pits last year’s winners Justin Goby Fields and (Hard Surface) and Paul Liaw (Organic) against this years entrants. The Organic category entrants include: Krystal Sae Eua, Erick Sosa, Damon Woods, Robert Vignone, Matt Thorup, Shane Olson, Adam Skutt, Ian Joyner, Maarten Verhoeven, Mark Dedecker and Marco Plouffe. The Hard Surface entrants include: Furio Tedeschi, Krill Chepizhko, Vaughan Ling, Tony Leonard, Cedric Seaut, Frederic Daoust, David Giraud, Andy Jones, Steve Talkowski, Ioannis Karathomas and Ara Kermanikian. Community voting will take place from Saturday, September 26th at 10AM PDT to Sunday, September 27th at 5PM PDT, so make sure to take some time to vote. The winners of each category will receive a championship belt for their efforts.

The ZBrush Awards presentation will happen at 7PM PDT on Saturday with bespoke bronze awards created especially for this years’ winners.
