ArtStation Jam: Odyssey

Need some inspiration for your next personal piece? Taking part in the next #ArtStationJam is a great way to engage with the community, make fresh artwork for your portfolio, and explore new themes.

Theme

The theme of the next ArtStation Jam is The Odyssey. We’re inviting participants to create artwork based on characters, places, objects, and scenes in Greek mythology from the Homeric epic poem. For reference, you can consult the text here.

You’ll find the text gives you plenty to choose from in terms of key scenes, faraway lands, gods, heroes, monsters, and more.

How It Works

Create an original artwork of your choice based on the theme.

Post your project on ArtStation and tag it with #OdysseyJam and #ArtStationJam so everyone can see your creations.

If you share on social media, mention or tag us on Instagram and Twitter (@artstationhq) so we can share your work too!

Guidelines

Since the goal is to create a portfolio piece and engage with the community, you are welcome to collaborate with other artists on your project as long as everyone who contributed is credited to the post.

Posting on the Marketplace or ArtStation Prints:

We encourage you to make your beautiful creations available as ArtStation Prints or the Marketplace where appropriate. However, artwork based on existing IPs is not eligible to be sold. These will be taken down for copyright infringement. Because of this, we encourage you to create original artwork as part of the challenge.

FAQ

When is the deadline to complete the work?

ArtStation Jams are fun prompts to help you create work for your portfolio. There’s no deadline but we will be announcing a new ArtStation Jam every few weeks.

Can I just tag old work that fits the theme?

We discourage doing this so that it makes it easier for artists who are participating in the Jam to find and connect with other artists taking part.

Can I make a 3D model of another artist’s entry?

We recommend reaching out to the artist for permission directly. ArtStation cannot grant permission to other artists’ work.

Should I post just the finished piece or my work too?

While it’s not necessary, we absolutely encourage you do include your breakdowns or work in process as well. Generally, posts with multiple assets and additional details get more visibility and engagement than posts with just one image.
