XDS20 Adapt Evolves into Virtual: What to Expect
Established in 2013, External Development Summit (XDS), is the only annual, international games industry event with a primary focus on external development for art, animation, audio, software engineering, QA and localization. For the past 7 years, XDS has marked milestones year after year with hundreds of high-caliber attendees representing over 45 countries, four consecutively sold-out events with a near 50/50 split between developers and service providers, and several returning and new sponsors and exhibitors. XDS is a niche, professionals-only event.
For its 8th year, XDS has adapted its format into a fully virtual experience in order to keep its community safe. Its organizers continue to plan the conference with features that underline the event’s intention of furthering external development practices through knowledge sharing and relationship building.
XDS20 Adapt will be held on October 27-30, 2020
What to Expect from XDS20 Adapt
While other events have struggled to adjust to the realities of a virtual medium, XDS organizers have had the benefit of time to get it right. The XDS team is continuously working hard to ensure that XDS20 Adapt provides multiple opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and business results, and capturing the fun the event is known for!
XDS Connect, Proprietary Event Application
The best features of XDS Connect have been retrofitted to become XDS20 Adapt’s full-fledged virtual event application:
- What’s On – Displays upcoming sessions that day, and what’s playing live, so attendees don’t miss a beat over four action-packed days
- Local Time Zone – Allows attendees to enter their time zone and schedule sessions and meetings accordingly to avoid confusion
- Community Chat – See what other attendees are up to before and during XDS. Attendees can share their own captioned photos and video while also commenting and liking posts
- Exhibitor Info – Provides all the information for attendees about XDS20 Adapt exhibitors, including links to the virtual 3D exhibit booths
- Streaming Music – Attendees can rock the XDS musical score throughout the week
Expect to visit virtual suites of XDS exhibitors, chat with fellow attendees and more!
XDS20 Adapt’s proprietary event application, XDS Connect, has been enhanced to cater to this year’s unique delivery. Attendees can take advantage of its new features to make the most of their B2B and knowledge sharing experience.
XDS Welcome Kits
As most in-person events have been transformed to online experiences in 2020, XDS Adapt attendees can still feel connected beyond their screens. A Welcome Kit will be shipped to those who register before September 21, 2020 so attendees don’t miss that feeling of connection! Our kit is filled with all tools needed for the event, secret treats, as well as some XDS must haves.
XDS20 Adapt registration continues to be available for Developers/Publishers. Throughout the 4 conference days, attend informative talks and chat with industry veterans, and meet with over 150 Service Providers.
As a Developer/Publisher, receive 15% off the regular XDS20 Adapt price. Enter “XDS20ArtStation” during registration to take advantage of this opportunity.
For Service Providers
Since going on sale in early July, the allocated number of passes for Service Providers have sold out. There is a cap placed on this number in order to maintain a healthy ratio of Service Providers to Developers/Publishers.
There are still opportunities available for Service Providers to attend XDS20 Adapt – a waitlist is created on a first come first serve basis, as well as sponsorship opportunities that guarantees admission to the event.
