The Syn Studio Concept Art Diploma program was created to provide aspiring concept artists with the highest quality art education at the most affordable prices. The program’s curriculum was developed in consultation with the world’s top educators and concept artists, most notably Scott Robertson. The content is regularly updated to ensure its relevance to current industry standards and requirements.

The program’s courses, workshops, and assignments are designed to enable students to master concept art fundamentals, learn advanced pipelines and techniques and become industry ready upon graduation. Syn Studio also conducts visits to some of the top gaming studios, guest lectures, masterclasses and workshops by eminent concept artists, and other industry-related activities. These activities help the students build valuable connections and gain an insight into the working of the concept art industry so they can advance quickly upon employment.

Syn Studio’s teachers are senior concept artists and art directors working in some of the most high profile games and movies. Throughout the program, the students will train with these industry experts and learn the tools, techniques, and skills required to build a high-quality concept art portfolio that best showcases their strengths and abilities. The small class size, with only 20 students in each cohort, facilitates maximum student-teacher interaction and ensures that the students receive a lot of individual attention and one-on-one coaching.

Some of past and current teachers in the program include:

Clement Crocq (Far Cry New Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Detroit: Become Human)

Sergei Sarichev (The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge, The Boys, Vikings, American Gods)

Frederic Bennett (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Transformers, Wet, Kung Fu Panda and Conan universe

Brian Sum (Mass Effect 2 and 3, Dragon Age Origins, Sonic Chronicles and Shadowrun)

The students in the Concept Art Diploma Program are selected after a rigorous process designed to find the top 20 candidates among the many who apply from all over the world. During the course of the program, these students work together, forge lifelong connections, and learn from and influence each other with their ideas and creativity. This competitive yet collaborative environment combined with focussed coaching helps the students unlock their full potential and achieve artistic mastery within a short period of 18 months.

Syn Studio is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, a renowned entertainment hub filled with established and fast-growing gaming companies that continually generate new job opportunities. The city’s vibrant, affordable and multicultural nature has made it an attractive option for a lot of international students. Classrooms are typically 70% international.
