Featured Pro Portfolio: Hui Zou

Hui Zou is a character designer based in Taipei, Taiwan.  For him, the ArtStation Pro website builder gave him all the flexibility he needed to customize his portfolio. He shared that he is constantly looking for new inspiration and ways to create more characters.

Where do you go to find inspiration?

I usually browse on ArtStation when I’m looking for inspiration. Watching others’ work is a good way to get enlightened. When I need some specific reference or photos, I’ll go to Pinterest.

 What kind of artwork impresses you most?

Character settings with a unique design or expressing aspects of an image in a personal style. Some artworks have both, which is something I love. 

What experiences led you to where you are today?

The culture development of Taiwan absorbs anything and everything. Culture from the east and west are familiar to me and I love them both. This kind of environment gives me sufficient nutrition, allows me to develop my own style and design without limitation.

 What is the best art advice you’ve ever received?

“Try to appreciate more types of artworks in different styles- a creator with higher ability will not get self-limited.”
