Syn Studio Concept Art Diploma Program—Apply for 2017

Syn Studio is inviting applications for the 2017 intake of its 18 month Concept Art Diploma Program. Since 2007, Syn Studio has been helping passionate students master the fundamentals and learn high level design and digital illustration skills. The Concept Art Diploma Program, which launched this year, is ideally suited for artists who already possess solid foundation skills and can dedicate 100% of their time to following an intensive concept art training from top artists in the industry.

Over roughly the first 9 months of the program, students focus on mastering the fundamentals, developing high level design and illustration skills using traditional art tools, Photoshop and a couple of different 3D programs. In the second half of the
program, teachers take the role of art directors and students take the role of junior concept artists. The concept art assignments, pipelines, deliverables and standards match the current workplace reality of the teachers who mainly work as concept artists on AAA video games as well as in film and television. During this last 9 months, students learn critical on-the-job skills and develop a professional-level concept art portfolio.

The process of creating Syn Studio’s Concept Art Diploma Program involved careful study of the world’s top art schools as well as consultations with world’s top educators and concept artists, most notably Scott Robertson. Thierry Doizon, aka Barontieri, a 20 year concept art veteran and recently art director of Apple’s mobile game of the year, Lara Croft GO, is Director of Studies for the program. Many of Syn Studio’s alumni are working as concept artists at top companies such as Warner Brother Games, Ubisoft, Cartoon Network, Mokko Studio, Gameloft and many more.
