New Challenge: The Legend of King Arthur
ArtStation Community Challenges enable you to work on improving your skills, connect with and learn from other artists, create new material for your portfolio and show the ArtStation Community what you’re capable of. We hope you’re ready because an exciting new ArtStation Community Challenge begins now.
The theme of the seventh ArtStation Community Challenge is The Legend of King Arthur. We’re challenging artists to imagine the once and future king, his exploits leading the Knights of the Round Table, and his many quests and battles.
The Arthurian legend is wildly inconsistent through its many retellings so we’re not going to look too hard at historical accuracy when judging. What we’re looking for is your ability to breathe life into the iconic characters, events and places and capture the world of post-Roman Britain in the era of the Legend of King Arthur. You’re welcome to use the Le Morte D’Arthur stories which can be found on Project Gutenberg in Volume I and Volume II, or any of the numerous King Arthur references online including the Camelot Project by the University of Rochester’s Robbins Library.
The Challenge starts with four Concept Art categories (Keyframe Design, Character Design, Environment Design and Prop Design) running for four weeks. We will then open up four Production categories (Game Character Art, Game Environment/ Level Art, Film/VFX Character Art and Prop Art) which will start at the conclusion of the Concept Art categories on 10 June, 2019.
