THU 2018 Golden Ticket Challenge Student and Professional Winners
For the the sixth year in a row Trojan Horse was a Unicorn has held its Golden Ticket Challenge to welcome the last Tribe Member to attend the Trojan Horse was a Unicorn festival. This year’s theme was “Land of Wonder” to celebrate the Tribe’s migration to Malta for the 2018 event (September 24-29, Valetta, Malta). For the first time, the Golden Ticket was awarded in two categories—Professionals and Students. 838 artists took up the challenge to create a submission that captured the essence of THU’s new home. We’d like to thank all the artists who participated in the challenge, and congratulate them on their creative efforts.

We gave young talents their own category and an opportunity to express themselves and come to THU. We’re happy to see that the number and quality of the submissions increased on both categories and talented artists from all over the world are making the Golden Ticket Challenge grow over the years.”
We’re very pleased to announce the winners and honourable mentions for the THU Golden Ticket Challenge: Professionals and the THU Golden Ticket Challenge: Students as judged by Jose Alves da Silva and the five winners of the previous challenges: Dor Shamir (2013), Max Kostenko (2014), Jakob Eirich (2015), Grace Liu (2016), Te Hu (2017).

There were so many different approaches to the subject with such high quality. In the end, the real winner is Art. So many great new pieces as the result of the hard work of many artists. THU2018 Golden Ticket Challenge was a true privilege to judge.”

Bjorn Hurri, Winner of the Golden Ticket Challenge (Professional): “I decided to join in because I am a big believer in community and wanted to share the process of creating this painting, live on Twitch, together with the community. I believe in challenging yourself in order to excel and this was a great opportunity. I even encouraged people to join in and to challenge themselves. The fact that my painting won has my face in a wide grin, and I can’t wait to experience THU for the first time in person!”
