The Art of Black Panther

On Thursday, February 22nd, 2018, eight of Marvel Studios’ finest artists will give their first talk on the visual development of Black Panther in Los Angeles at Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther is a milestone movie in the 18-film Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that breaks exciting new ground and delivers strength, identity, pride, and grace in abundance – with all the superheroes, royalty, warriors, and complex villains that we expect from Marvel Studios. Led by the Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding, the Visual Development team was responsible for designing the characters, props, and the overall visual look of the movie. The talented line-up will explore various character designs, such as Black Panther/T’Challa, Dora Milaje’s Okoye and Nakia, Killmonger, and many more. Various key-frame illustrations will also be showcased – all of which helped the director and studio visualize what the look and feel of the film could be. The speakers will also discuss and examine how 3D tools were critical in creating many of the characters and assets that are pivotal during the concept design phase of the movie-making process.

The event is free and attendance is RSVP only, with tickets and seating offered on a first-come-first-served basis.  This exclusive event will not be streaming live or available as a recording.
