Momentum: Concepting and Kickstarting Films

Gnomon School of Visual Effects has announced Concepting and Kickstarting Films with Gadget-Bot & Mark Yang, a free event hosted by Robert Simons, Peggy Chung, and Mark Yang, the creators, designers and filmmakers behind the successfully Kickstarter-funded short film, MOMENTUM in Los Angeles on Saturday August 25th at 7:30PM at the Gnomon Campus.

The short sci-fi drama follows a struggling father pursuing his hovercar racing dreams and is driven by the team’s extensive background creating concepts for films, games, and commercials. Their combined credits include Pacific Rim, Pacific Rim 2, Ender’s Game, Transformers: The Last Knight, Spider-Man 2, Jurassic World, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, for clients such as Fox, Universal Studios, Activision, Lightstorm Entertainment, and Skydance. Gadget-Bot Creators/Co-Founders, Robert Simons and Peggy Chung, will join Mark Yang, Lead Vehicle Designer from Paramount Pictures, at the Gnomon Stage to share insights into their careers as designers, and discuss both the risks and rewards that come hand-in-hand with independent filmmaking. The panel will reveal the film’s history and progress, from early concepts and pre-production work through to post-production, and discuss the key ingredients to creating a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Whether you’re a student, hobbyist or professional working in concept design, films, games, or just curious about independent filmmaking and crowdfunding passion projects, be sure to RSVP or follow along on Livestream. The Gadget-Bot crew will be inviting questions from both the stage audience and Livestream viewers (Tweet questions using #gnomon on Twitter).
