Hi ArtStation community! It’s no secret that we here at Quixel are big fans of yours, and we’re constantly blown away by all of the incredible artistry and creativity that you share with the world.
Just like many of you, we always want to test ourselves to see what we’re capable of and what the possibilities are with the latest tools and technology.
Enter Ninety Days in Unreal Engine 5, a project that tasked a small team of artists from a variety of disciplines here at Epic Games to spend 90 days creating something beautiful and inspiring using just Unreal Engine, Quixel Megascans, as well as assets from Sketchfab and the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Each of the environments needed to be real-time, and if possible, created in just three days.
Our motivation wasn’t exclusively to highlight or promote our tools; instead, it was also a way to help our team become more familiar with Unreal Engine 5, and to create something special that would inspire the rest of our team, and hopefully, the entire community, just as all of you have inspired us.
It was a fun challenge to watch unfold, the artists were motivated by the speed and fluidity at which they could build.
Creating amazing environments is only the beginning of building incredible experiences in real time. We want to thank all of the talented artists who participated, and hope that Ninety Days inspires everyone to dive into UE5 and jump into creating without friction to bring ideas and stories to life!
