Syn Studio Concept Art Diploma Program – Early Application Review Deadline on October 31, 2019

The 18-month Concept Art Diploma Program is targeted towards concept artists who already possess decent fundamentals and wish to gain a higher level of proficiency. The program’s curriculum was designed in consultation with the industry’s top artists and educators, most notably Scott Robertson. 

The teachers are senior concept artists and art directors working in some of the most high profile games and movies currently in production. During this 18-month course, students train with these experts to learn the tools, techniques, and skills required to build a high-quality portfolio and become industry-ready. Students will also build valuable connections through teachers, fellow students and alumni who work in AAA, indie gaming, film and animation companies in Montreal and other cities.

Here are some of the instructors who will be teaching in the Concept Art Diploma Program.

Remko Troost 

Remko Troost has over 15 years of industry experience and is currently a Senior Concept Artist at Ubisoft Montreal. His designs appear in numerous AAA titles such as Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed Unity. His expertise in digital painting and concept art has been recognized with numerous awards and his work has been featured in prestigious art publications from Ballistic Publishing, Titan Books, Imagine FX, 2D Artist Magazine and Computer Arts.

Sergei Sarichev 

Sergei Sarichev is a Matte Painter and Concept Artist at Mr.X. His Credits include: Monster Hunter, The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge, Ad Astra, The Boys, Vikings, American Gods, Pet Cemetery, Vice and the Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair. His work has also been featured on the cover of Clarkesworld Magazine (Issue 126) and on book covers such as Terminal by Noemie Gauthier.

Jason Tonks 

Jason Tonks is a concept and 3D artist with over 10 years of industry experience for companies such as WB Games and Ubisoft. During his career, Jason has worked on many high profile AAA games such as Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Injustice 2, Batman: Arkham Origins and Splinter Cell: Blacklist and is currently working at Bethesda Studios on a top secret AAA game. 

Pierre Raveneau

Pierre Raveneau is a senior concept artist at Ubisoft Montreal, prior to this, he has worked for companies like Gameloft Madrid and Ubisoft Halifax on games such as Gods of Rome, Asphalt Xtreme, and Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak. Pierre has also worked on several freelance projects for companies such as Square Enix, Applibot, Cryptozoic Entertainment, Alderac and Fantasy Flight Games, among others.

Christian Robert de Massy 

Christian Robert de Massy is one of the film industry’s best-kept secrets. He’s been working for over 10 years as a freelance concept artist and illustrator on films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Snow White and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Jessy Veilleux 

Jessy Veilleux is the founder and creative director of Meduzarts, a digital environment and character design studio, and the creative director of Digital Dimension. His work has been featured many high profile movies and video games such as StarWars, Avatar VG, 300, FallOut 3, SinCity, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen VG, Assassin’s Creed II, Prince of Persia II and Mortal Kombat X.

Clement Crocq 

Clement Crocq is a senior concept artist with 10 years experience. He’s currently at Electronic Arts (EA), and has also worked for companies including Ubisoft, Eidos, WB Games, Quantic Dream, and Digital District. His credits include: Far Cry New Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Detroit: Become Human and the animated movie Leap

Aadi Salman – Concept Artist at Ubisoft Montreal whose credits include: Watchdogs 2, Farcry 4, and Rainbow Six Siege

Xin Ran Liu – Lead Artist and Art Director at Kitfox Games whose credits include: Mafia Wars, Shattered Planet, and Moon Hunters

Sean Bigham – Senior Concept Artist at Riot Games whose credits include Warframe, Halo 4 Champions DLC bundle, and Prototype 2.

Nick Oroc – Senior Concept Artist at Novaquark whose credits include Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Assassin’s Creed: Project Legacy, Far Cry Primal and Child of Light as well as games in the Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell universes

Veronique Meignaud – Freelance Concept Artist and Illustrator whose credits include Far Cry 4, Child of Light, Dishonored, Magic The Gathering and Monster Life.

Boris Andreev – Freelance Senior Concept Designer whose credits include Watership Down, The Dragon Prince, The Legend of Tembo, Thomas And Friends, River Dance, and Harold Lloyd.
