ArtStation Jam: Topsy Turvy

Artwork by Robbie Trevino

#ArtStationJam is a fun community activity that’ll inspire you to create fresh artwork for your portfolio and explore new themes.

A few weeks ago, we announced the first Jam theme and seeing the results from the community was outstanding! See entries from the #OnceUponaTimeJam here.

Are you ready for the next one?

Theme

The theme of the next ArtStation Jam is Topsy Turvy. We’re inviting participants to create artwork that takes a bizarre twist on conventions and challenges your imagination.

Show us some unnatural juxtapositions, chaotic combinations or something out of your strangest dream. It can be a character or place reimagined in opposite land, a texture or object that can only exist in your imagination, or just a scene that’ll make viewers do a double-take.

For this Jam, all mediums are acceptable so feel free to get creative and do the opposite of your “normal”.

How It Works

Create an original artwork of your choice based on the theme.

Post your project on ArtStation and tag it with #TopsyTurvyJam so everyone can see your creations.

If you share on social media, mention or tag us on Instagram and Twitter (@artstationhq) so we can share your work too!

Guidelines

Since the goal is to create a portfolio piece and engage with the community, you are welcome to collaborate with other artists on your project as long as everyone who contributed is credited to the post.

Posting on the Marketplace or ArtStation Prints:

We encourage you to make your beautiful creations available as ArtStation Prints or the Marketplace where appropriate. However, artwork based on existing IPs are not eligible to be sold. These will be taken down for copyright infringement. Because of this, we encourage you to create original artwork as part of the challenge.

FAQ

When is the deadline to complete the work?

ArtStation Jams are fun prompts to help you create work for your portfolio. There’s no deadline but we will be announcing a new ArtStation Jam every few weeks.

Can I just tag old work that fits the theme?

We discourage doing this so that it makes it easier for artists who are participating in the Jam to find and connect with other artists taking part.

Can I make a 3D model of another artist’s entry?

We recommend reaching out to the artist for permission directly. ArtStation cannot grant permission to other artists’ work.
