The Diploma Program Course Curriculum

The Syn Studio Concept Art Diploma Program was created to help you strengthen your design fundamentals, learn advanced concept art pipelines and processes, and build a top-notch concept art portfolio within a short period of 18 months.

The program’s curriculum design involved a complete and thorough analysis of the current industry trends and requirements, a careful evaluation of similar top concept art programs from around the world as well as consultations with top educators and concept artists, most notably Scott Robertson. The curriculum and course content is regularly updated to ensure that it remains up to date with the ever-evolving industry standards.

The Concept Art Diploma Program is divided into two halves of 9 months each. During the first half of the program, you will undergo rigorous training to master your fundamentals and develop high-level design and illustration skills using traditional art tools, Photoshop, and other 3D software. During the second half of the program, you will apply these skills to concept art assignments, while learning advanced digital techniques and cutting-edge pipelines. During this phase, designed to mirror the exacting industry environment, you will take the role of a junior concept artist with your teacher acting as your art director, providing you with critical on-the-job skills and guiding you through your professional-level concept art portfolio development process.

The program’s hands-on structure, with its small class size, ensures that you will receive ample one-on-one attention from the instructors, enabling you to rapidly improve so you can become industry-ready by the end of the program.

In addition to this, Syn Studio also conducts guest lectures, masterclasses, and workshops by eminent concept artists, visits to some of the top gaming studios (during non-pandemic times), and other industry-related activities (all included free of charge for diploma students) to help you build valuable connections so you can advance quickly upon employment.
