ArtStation is Joining the Epic Games Family

Dear friends,

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that ArtStation is joining the Epic Games family. Together, we’ll accelerate the development and growth of the creator community worldwide. This partnership underscores both Epic’s and ArtStation’s mission to empower creators with the tools and platforms to thrive. You can read the announcement at the Epic Games Newsroom.

ArtStation and Epic Games have shared a great relationship since we burst onto the scene in 2014. The Unreal Engine team has been incredibly supportive of our efforts and initiatives. Last year, at the initial height of the pandemic, Epic committed to supporting us with a Megagrant, which helped immensely during an uncertain period. Through our collaboration, we witnessed Epic’s deep respect for the ArtStation community and that we shared the same mission to empower creators. It became clear that by joining forces, we would have a much bigger impact.

ArtStation will remain an independently branded platform owned by Epic Games and will continue its mission to empower creators to thrive. You can still use the platform as you do today, and we will continue to be open to all creators across verticals, both 2D and 3D alike – including those that don’t use Unreal Engine. We’ll be actively hiring and growing the ArtStation team. We’re committed to improving the platform and now as a part of Epic, we’ll be able to do much more.

Earn more on the ArtStation Marketplace

As of today, we’re massively increasing the earning potential of sellers on the ArtStation Marketplace. We’re dropping our standard fees from 30% to only 12%. For Pro members, the fee reduces from 20% to 8% and 5% for self-promoted sales. See our Earnings Calculator for more details on the new ArtStation Marketplace fees.

ArtStation Learning is free for the rest of 2021

We’re also making ArtStation Learning free to all members for the remainder of 2021. ArtStation Learning is our streaming video service for artists. It features unlimited access to an ever-growing content library from industry professionals. Artists can expand their skills in a wide range of art topics and learn at their own pace. Head over to artstation.com/learning to get started.

We want to thank you – our community and friends. Thank you for your trust, and thank you for your passion. It’s been an incredible journey.

We’re excited for this next chapter of ArtStation. The future is epic!

Best wishes,

Leonard Teo, CEO and the ArtStation Team

FAQ

Does this mean that ArtStation will become only Unreal and game-focused?

Nope! ArtStation will remain an independently branded platform owned by Epic Games and will continue its mission to empower creators to thrive. You can still use the platform as you do today, and we will continue to be open to all creators, across verticals, both 2D and 3D alike – including those that don’t use Unreal Engine.

What does this mean for future features and fixes?

We’ll be actively hiring and growing the ArtStation team and will continue to build new features for our community. We’re committed to improving the platform and now as a part of Epic, we’ll be able to do much more.

Will you be updating ArtStation’s policies?

We’ve updated the ArtStation Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which you will be asked to review and agree to when you log into your ArtStation account. The language is pretty similar to what you’re already familiar with. But since we are now a part of Epic Games, these terms and policy are an agreement with Epic, while before you were in an agreement with Ballistiq Digital Inc, which owned ArtStation before we joined Epic.
