In late 2020 Epic Games launched its Unreal Fellowship initiative which offered an intensive blended learning experience for select industry professionals to get them up to speed on Unreal Engine. Fellows came from a variety of disciplines from lighting to character animation and post effects. Following the success of the Unreal Fellowship, Epic Games Unreal Online Learning partnered with ArtStation to offer a hybrid learning experience to a new group of artists with the Virtual Production for Storytellers Challenge.

Participants were challenged to demonstrate their newly acquired Unreal Engine knowledge by completing a series of weekly project assignments that built upon themselves to produce a completed sequence around the themes of “The Discovery” or “The Race”.

Throughout the challenge, an amazing team of Challenge Hosts (Javier Perez, Te Hu, Deepak Chetty, Kevin Lyle and Mathew Wadstein) provided encouragement, feedback and technical support to the challenge entrants.

We’re very pleased to share the results of the challenge and congratulate all of the participants who produced remarkable results over the 5-week challenge.
