Riot Games League of Legends: Pre-Season Art Blast
Welcome to the League of Legends gameplay team’s end of year Art Blast. Our team is very excited to share what they’ve been working on this quarter with League of Legends: Rise of the Elements.
Normally during pre-season we don’t make many changes to the physical map of Summoner’s Rift. For the 10 year anniversary we knew we wanted to explore changes that would meaningfully impact Summoner’s Rift..in only the best ways.
Evolving the Summoner’s Rift map is an exciting project but with so many players having an emotional connection to the map, it was a daunting task in the same updating an iconic champion would be. To make this a natural extension of the game, we focused on changes to the environment of the map through Elemental Drakes. It was our hope to provide players with a unique experience each time they load into a game. Our artists went out of their way to ensure the enhanced the current world instead of creating a completely new one.
