The Road to the Visual Effects Industry: An Evening with Gnomon Alumni

On Thursday, August 22nd, discover how three visual effects artists got their start as Gnomon alumni Eevee Saucedo, Gary Tang, and Lucas Sparks take to the stage to discuss their journeys into the industry.

From their decisions to start pursuing an education in visual effects to attending Gnomon to their first jobs and beyond, Eevee, Gary, and Lucas will recount their paths to becoming professional VFX artists, all while offering helpful advice for those looking to do the same.

Eevee Saucedo – Character & Creature Animator, CoSA VFX

Eevee specializes in character and creature animation and is currently an animator at CoSA VFX. Thanks to her love of animation, she has had the opportunity to cultivate diverse experience creating visual effects for television, feature animation, virtual reality, commercial work, and more. Eevee recently wrapped work on the DC Universe show Swamp Thing and her additional credits include Hotel Transylvania 3LuciferThe Flash, and Stranger Things.

Gary Tang – Character Artist, DreamWorks Animation

Gary is a 3D Generalist with a focus on asset creation and management. He is currently working as a Character Artist at DreamWorks Animation on the upcoming series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. After graduating from Gnomon in 2017, Gary has worked for studios such as Blur Studio, MOCEAN, and Encore, garnering credits such as DC Universe’s Doom PatrolTitansThe FlashSupergirlBlack Lightning, and Legends of Tomorrow.

Lucas Sparks – Senior Game Artist, Respawn Entertainment

Lucas Sparks is a Senior Game Artist specializing in Environmental Art. Lucas’ first project out of Gnomon was working on Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886. From there he was able to work with companies like Obsidian and Bethesda while at The Workshop Entertainment before making the jump to Santa Monica Studio to work on the latest God of War as an environment artist. He has recently finished work on Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima and is currently working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderwith Respawn Entertainment (a dream project).
