Artillery Festival coming back to St. Petersburg

This year, for the 4th time in a row,  Artillery Festival will take over St. Petersburg. Created and organized by Grafit studio based in Russia, it has become the biggest local CG art event since 2016.

The festival’s unique program combines all kinds of creative activities under one roof: lectures, masterclasses, life drawing sessions, workshops, art battles and more. Like in previous years, it continues to be a platform that encourages networking and meeting creative minds who share the same passion for art.

This year, international and local speakers make this event a must-see: Feng Zhu, Anna Podedworna, Hicham Habchi, James W Cain, Mauro Belfiore, Sean Sevestre and others will share the stage and engage in creative discussions.

Participants have a chance to see original art pieces created by local talented artists and sculptors at the festival’s exhibition. See original paintings by Russian traditional artist and art tutor Vitaly Ekleris, join a class by sculpture master Tomek Radziewicz and enjoy sculptures of Vladimir Brodarsky and Kate Pilnikova. You’ll be surrounded by art and can even go to the Hermitage if you’re still be hungry for more!

If you feel inspired to make art yourself, use a digital tablet in the CG area or grab a sketchbook and sketch from life where there will be models posing.

Artillery Art Awards

You will have a chance to become the very first to win the Artillery Art Awards and be named Best Digital Illustrator of the year, voted by the Jury. If you’ve ever dreamt about your CG idols noticing your artworks online, this is your chance! Artillery 4th Shot speakers, Karla Ortiz, Greg Rutkowski, Piotr Jablonski, Eytan Zana, Even Amundsen and others are going to take a close look at your submissions. Fingers crossed; your favorite artists can put your name in spotlights!

This year there is one category to submit and participate – Digital Illustration. Applicants are not limited by subject or style. The idea is to praise artists, not artworks, and your art only represents you.

The winner will get a unique Artillery Art Awards statuette as the main prize. It took about a year to design and roughly 6 months to sculpt and finalize it in metal. The statuette is inspired by the form of an artist’s hand. It is a metaphor of transformations that a creator is going through while making art. Each statuette will be made specifically for the Award winner and will have his/her name engraved on it, as well as sculptor’s stamp and foundry’s mark.

Sculptor: Vladimir Brodarsky, St. Petersburg Imperial academy of Arts graduate: author of many sculptures, monuments and award figures
