Wojtek Fus – drawing with The Foundry’s Mischief app

Wojtek Fus is a 22-year-old concept artist spotted by Shaddy Safadi, founder of concept art studio One Pixel Brush, who hired him as a freelancer. Wojtek has since worked with clients including Platige Image, Applibot, Guerrilla Games and Quantic Dream. Along with fellow artists Darek Zabrocki and Jonas de Ro, he also runs free online art training community Level Up!

Wojtek recently trialled the Mischief drawing app to explore its suitability as a daily tool for anatomy research and ideation: “I’m used to studying every day. I draw anatomy studies and I note things. I prefer to do it with pen and paper because it’s simple, it gives me a lot of freedom, and there’s no boundaries between me and ideation. Why haven’t I been doing this digitally? Because there were too many obstacles in the way. It was too hard to jump straight in to start sketching, drawing or painting. So why is Mischief better? I don’t have to worry about anything else. I can just draw and I don’t have to worry about resizing anything.”

“I like how Mischief handles the strokes. It’s really smooth and enables me to get the quality lines where I need them. You also have a lot of control over brush strokes. They remind me of the way I use charcoal when drawing on paper. You can control two diameters at the same time—entry diameter and ending diameter—which is like using two different edges of a charcoal stick.”

Wojtek has provided his native Mischief file (Sketching Session With Wojtek Fus.art) to explore. You can open the Mischief file in the free version of Mischief as well as the trial and full versions. If you’re using the trial or free versions, the layers in the file will be flattened when you open it, but if you have the full version of Mischief it will automatically open the file as the full layered version.
